Why choose a transparent fibre cable?

Discreet aesthetics

The 0.9 mm transparent nylon jacket blends in with white skirting boards, door frames and mouldings — the installation becomes nearly invisible without any building work.

Installation without drilling

Minimum bend radius of 5 mm (G.657B3 standard) — the cable turns the tightest corners with no risk of breaking the fibre or degrading the signal.

Certified optical performance

OS2 125µm singlemode fibre, IL ≤ 0.30 dB, RL ≥ 60 dB (APC) at 1310 nm and 1550 nm wavelengths — identical to a conventional jacketed cable.

Frequently asked questions

1How do I choose between SC/APC, SC/UPC and LC/APC?
Check the connector colour on your wall socket and your box: SC/APC = green (Orange, SFR, Bouygues), SC/UPC = blue (Freebox, some equipment), LC/APC = small green connector (converters, SFP switches). Order a cable with both ends matching your two devices.
2Is the transparent cable really invisible?
The 0.9 mm transparent nylon jacket lets the cable blend into light-coloured surroundings (white skirting boards, mouldings, frames). It remains visible up close but is discreet at a normal viewing distance. For dark walls, a coloured cable may be more suitable.
3Can the transparent cable be fixed with adhesive tape?
Yes, the nylon surface accepts double-sided tape and adhesive clips. Avoid crushing the cable with overly tight tape. Maintain a minimum bend radius of 5 mm at corners to avoid degrading the G.657B3 fibre.
4What lengths are available?
Elfcam transparent fibre cables are available in several lengths depending on the model: 1 m, 2 m, 3 m, 5 m, 10 m and 15 m. Check each product page for the exact lengths available.
5Is this cable compatible with my Freebox?
Most Freeboxes (Ultra, Pop, Delta, Revolution) use a blue SC/UPC port on the box side and a green SC/APC port on the wall socket side. Order reference 19785 (SC/APC → SC/UPC) for direct compatibility with these models.
6What is the insertion loss of this cable?
The insertion loss (IL) is ≤ 0.30 dB and the return loss (RL) is ≥ 60 dB for APC connectors. These values are identical to those of a standard armoured fibre cable — the transparent jacket does not affect optical performance.
7Can the G.657B3 cable handle 90° angles?
Yes, that is precisely the advantage of the G.657B3 standard: a minimum bend radius of 5 mm, versus 15–30 mm for a standard G.652 cable. This allows you to navigate sharp angles like skirting-board corners without risk of breakage or excessive attenuation.
8What is the delivery time?
The transparent fibre cables are in stock in France. Orders before 2 pm on a working day → same-day dispatch, delivery D+1 to D+2 in mainland France (Colissimo or carrier depending on weight). Delivery within Europe available.
