Choosing the right fibre converter for your use

The choice depends on the number of Ethernet ports, PoE requirements and the required speed.

Standard (1–4 ports)

Simple fibre link

To connect one area to another via fibre. 1 to 4 RJ45 ports, integrated SFP, pack of 2.

  • 1222 — 1 RJ45 + 1 SC (pack 2)
  • 2167 — 2 RJ45 (pack 2)
  • 2309 — 2×2 RJ45 (pack 2)
  • 2321 — 4×4 RJ45 (pack 2)
  • 2181 — 1–4 ports (pack 2)
PoE (1–8 ports)

Cameras & Wi-Fi APs

Converter + integrated PoE power supply. One cable is enough for data + power.

  • 3452 — 1 RJ45 PoE
  • 4880 — 2 RJ45 PoE
  • 4896 — 4 RJ45 PoE
  • 26446 — 8 RJ45 PoE
10G & modular SFP

High speed & Freebox Ultra

10G SFP+ converter for ultra-fast links, or modular SFP model for more flexibility.

  • 15772 — 10G SFP+ + RJ45 10G
  • 5611 — Modular SFP (single/multi-mode)
  • 5618 — Bidirectional (pack 2)

  • Several devices on the receiving side2321 (4 ports)
  • IP cameras without mains power3452 / 4880 / 4896 (PoE)
  • Several cameras + Wi-Fi AP26446 (8 PoE ports)
  • Freebox Ultra / 10G NAS15772 (10G SFP+)
  • Scalable / multi-zone network → rather a fibre switch

Fibre Ethernet converters — all models

Standard — 1 to 4 RJ45 ports (pack of 2)

Integrated SFP, single-mode SC, link up to 20 km. Plug & play.

PoE — 1 to 8 ports (integrated power)

Fibre converter + PoE for IP cameras, Wi-Fi APs and VoIP phones.

10G & modular SFP

10G SFP+ converter for Freebox Ultra, and modular SFP models for single/multi-mode flexibility.

Why choose an Elfcam fibre converter

The simplest fibre network

  • SFP already integrated: no optical module to buy, configure or insert. Plug it in and it works.
  • Sold in a pack of 2: a complete pair (transmitter + receiver), ready for a point-to-point link.
  • Up to 20 km: single-mode SC fibre, sufficient for 99% of residential and tertiary installations.
  • Auto-negotiation: automatic 10/100/1000 Mbps detection — compatible with all Ethernet equipment.
  • Metal housing: passive heat dissipation, no fan, silent operation.

FAQ — Fibre optic converters

1Converter or fibre switch: how to choose?
Converter: for a simple point-to-point link with 1 to 4 devices on the receiving side. The simplest network to install. Fibre switch: if you have several zones, need cascading or future expansion. See our Home Fiber guide.
2Why are converters sold in a pack of 2?
A fibre link requires 2 converters: one at each end of the fibre cable. The pack of 2 guarantees a matched and compatible pair, ready to plug in.
3Do I need to buy an SFP module separately?
No for the standard and PoE models — the SFP is already integrated. Only the 10G model (ref 15772) requires an SFP+ module sold separately. See our optical modules.
4What is the maximum distance of the fibre link?
Standard and PoE converters support up to 20 km on single-mode SC fibre. For the 10G model, the distance depends on the SFP+ module used (300 m in multi-mode, 10–80 km in single-mode).
5Are PoE converters compatible with my IP cameras?
Yes. Elfcam PoE converters comply with IEEE 802.3af/at and automatically power any PoE device: IP cameras, Wi-Fi access points, VoIP phones. No configuration required.
6Which fibre cable should I use with an Elfcam converter?
A single-mode SC/APC or SC/UPC fibre cable. Indoor or outdoor depending on your routing. See our fibre optic cables and reinforced outdoor cables.
7Is the 10G converter compatible with Freebox Ultra?
Yes. The ref 15772 has an SFP+ 10G port and an RJ45 10G port. It connects to the SFP+ port of the Freebox Ultra to convert the fibre link to 10G Ethernet.
8What is the delivery time?
All converters are in stock and shipped within 24h (business days). Chronopost next-day delivery for mainland France. Orders before 2 pm shipped the same day. Entry-level model: RJ45 SFP gigabit single-mode SC fibre converter — a simple and reliable solution for most FTTH needs.
