  • DAC: passive copper up to 5m — the cheapest, zero optical latency, no active power.
  • AOC: fibre with integrated transceiver, up to 100m — lighter and more flexible than copper over long reach.
  • Transceiver + separate fibre cable: hot-pluggable, individually replaceable — best for future-proof infrastructure and longer distances.
2Which fibre for the QSFP28 SR4 100G?
OM3 or OM4 multimode fibre with a 12-fibre MPO/MTP connector. The SR4 uses 4 × 25G emitters, each requiring a pair of fibres. Max distance: 70m on OM3, 100m on OM4.
3Which switches are your QSFP28 modules compatible with?
Compatible with Cisco Nexus, Arista 7xxx, Nvidia/Mellanox Spectrum, HPE FlexFabric, Juniper QFX, Dell Force10, Brocade, Huawei CloudEngine. Each module is coded for the target brand — specify your exact model when ordering if your equipment is not on the list.
4Can you mix transceiver brands in the same switch?
Yes, provided each transceiver is coded for your switch brand. An Elfcam QSFP28 coded for Arista works in an Arista even if other ports use original modules. Watch out for switches with "digital optics enforcement" (Cisco with the service unsupported-transceiver command disabled).
5How do you test the optical quality of a 100G transceiver?
Via DOM (Digital Optical Monitoring) built into our modules: the show interface transceiver command (Cisco/Arista) or equivalent displays TX/RX power in real time. Our modules also report temperature and supply voltage.
6What is the warranty and the delivery time?
